Field of work

Student assistant

In my work as a student assistant, I am responsible for software development and integrating new methods to the process-pipeline APPETITE from Dr. Patrick Kück, especially for simulated data. Currently, I develop with Dr. Patrick Kück a benchmark-test for sequence aligning-methods with the aid of APPETITE.

Research for master thesis

For my thesis, I analyze various DNA methylation level and pattern of several insect species and taxa using computational methods. Several studies exist which investigate only one or few species, most common hymenopteran species.  Using the CpG o/e or normalized CpG dinucleotide content, a comprehensive analysis about the target and pattern of DNA methylation various insects order shall provide insides into the status and evolution of  DNA methylation in insects. The supervisor is Prof. Dr. Bernhard Misof.

Research interests

Responding to my field of work, I am interested in genomics, phylogenetics, and software development. At present, I am focused on the development of methods and measurements of phylogenetic reconstruction. Programming languages are Perl and R.
