Profile

Research interests

Molecular systematics, analysis of speciation processes, evolution of rRNA molecules, rare genomic changes as phylogenetic markers, the evolution of basal hexapods and pterygote insects, phylogenomics, bioinformatics, evolutionary genomics.

I am interested in all aspects of molecular biodiversity research from molecular taxonomy to evolutionary genomics. It is particularly important for me to integrate theoretical, bioinformatic and empirical approaches as this combination allows to explore the potential of molecular biodiversity research

My research is focused on aspects of bioinformatics, phylogenomics, speciation research and theory of phylogenetics. See my project descriptions and publications for details.
