Profile

Field of work

For my PhD project I investigate the functional morphology and ecomorphology within the adaptive radiation of sailfin silversides on the Indonesian island Sulawesi. The 16 species are all endemic for Sulawesi and show a high diversity in prey choice, habitat and body morphology. I analyse the differentiations between the species and sexes by using diverse imaging methods like X-rays, µCT scans and high-speed video recordings. The aim of this project is to explain the differences in morphology and ecology between the different sailfin silverside species and between the sexes.
