The director of the ZFMK is also holder of the Chair of Systematic Zoology at the University of Bonn.

Research

The Chair of Systematic Zoology has the same focus as the research done at the Museum Koenig, that is to say:

  • taxonomy of invertebrates and vertebrates
  • faunistics, phylogeographic and ecological research
  • evolutionary research
  • research on molecular phylogeny
  • development of methods
  • analysis of the fauna against the background of environmental problems (climate change, land use)

Infrastructure

Courses are held at the premises of the University as well as at the research museum. For this purpose, the ZFMK is equipped with:

  • seminar and lab rooms
  • lecture auditorium
  • labs for histology, electron microscopy, computer workstations
