ZFMK Project lead:
Object of research:
Amphibians, Toads

Description

On behalf of the “Untere Landschaftsbehörde” a comprehensive inventory of the Natterjack Toad (Bufo calamita) populations inhabiting the administrative area of Cologne was conducted according to FFH-ABC standards. Fieldwork was carried out in subsequent years (2012 and 2013). During fieldwork species specific habitat quality parameters were collected to evaluate habitat suitability for all study sites. Species distribution modelling approaches were used to predict the potential distribution of B. calamita across the administrative area of Cologne. Connectivity between populations of the Natterjack Toad was assessed using connectivity models.
