Welcome Party

We invite you to spend the first evening with us at ZFMK for a little welcome party. Snacks and drinks will be provided and the museum is exclusively open for the guests of the DGS. Rainer Hutterer, former curator of mammals at ZFMK, will give a short introduction to the history of the museum and its mammal collection. In addition you may join one of the guided tours to our public exhibits, including the stunning Rainforest exhibition.

Tour to the Eifel National Park

On Tuesday afternoon we will take you on a bus tour to Eifel National Park to go on the barrier-free round-trip "Wilder Kermeter". From here we might also see the "Ordensburg Vogelsang", one of the largest building projects of Nazi Germany, and an expression of its megalomania and contempt for humanity. After a long time of military use it is now developing as an “International Place” for tolerance, diversity and peaceful coexistence.

After the walk we will have a dinner at the "Kermeterschenke" with local game (and vegetarian alternatives), before returning to Bonn at about 22:30.

If you want to participate in this event, please sign up during the registration process. Later registrations can be made until 30th August (please use conference e-mail address DGS2018[at]leibniz-zfmk.de)

Conference Dinner

The Conference Dinner will take place on Wednesday Evening 19:00 in the "Festsaal" of Museum Koenig.

Tour to Cologne Zoo

On Thursday afternoon, after the official closing ceremony, we invite you to visit Cologne Zoo. If you want to participate in this event, please sign up during the registration process as we need to arrange the number of guided tours depending on the number of participants. Later registrations can be made until 30th August (please use conference e-mail address DGS2018[at]leibniz-zfmk.de)
